Who Needs a Visa?
Indian nationals need an entry permit. Most other visitors need a visa approved before travel; Bangladeshi and Maldivian nationals may also obtain a visa on arrival. You can apply online yourself or ask your tour operator to apply on your behalf.

- Submit your application through the Department of Immigration or arrange assistance through your operator.
- Confirm the applicable visa fee and SDF, and allow time for processing before departure.
- Carry your travel documents and any required approval when travelling.
What to Prepare
Have your passport details, travel dates and requested application documents ready. Follow the immigration portal’s current instructions for passport validity, photographs and supporting documents. Keep names and passport numbers consistent across your application and bookings.
Visa Fees and Your Trek Budget

Independent Visa Applications and Guided Trekking
Applying for your own visa does not mean you can trek independently. Bhutan’s Department of Tourism requires treks to be undertaken with an accredited operator or guide. Discuss your route, logistics and access requirements before departure.
Insurance and Travel Planning
